Practical

Those who want to become married and have children are not wrong in wishing to do so; however, please do not tell me I am wrong for not wanting that life. Becoming a wife and mother has never been a goal of mine nor did I think it would complete me as a woman.
My mother, aunts, cousins and grandmothers are the greatest inspirations in my life. The selflessly provided for thier children. I can't begin to tell you how much I admire them.
With that, over the past few weeks I have had the opportunity to do a lot of soul searching. My life isn't what most think it should be. I am a 28-year-old woman. I am not married. I do not have children. Because of those things I do not have, I have been able to do so much more in my life.
I have a Master's Degree. I have traveled the world. I can go anywhere at the drop of a hat. I can have a car that can't fit a carseat. I can move. I can sleep in. I can wear white whenever I please. I don't have to find a babysitter. I can be the greatest aunt on the planet. I can have my weekends. I can save money. I can have only bottled water and mustard in my refrigerator. I can have cake for breakfast. I don't have to worry about if my husband will agree. I can be me.
I do not have to live a practical life.
I refuse to live a life society deems appropriate.
I refuse to conform to what people think
 I should be as a 28-years-old woman.
I am Carly Jones
and no one can tell
me who I can be
except me.

Cheers,
C

Every so often I like to change things up a bit! I felt a little edgy this day.

First day of Summer and I spent it like any lady should at the ballpark!
Hat: Marley Lilly
Top: Lilly Pulitzer (National Wear Your Lilly Day)
Margarita in hand.

Got to cheer on this little lady in her t-ball game!

Love this Kimono from Franchesca's! Sunglasses are from Target. Necklace is from Marely Lilly.

Be as happy as a bird with a french fry.

I am obviously invested in my name. This gold plated necklace has my Twitter handle @carlydjones on it.

Meet Anderson Cooper!
He is my not practical purchase. I have been in the market for a new vehical and couldn't find anything that fit my personality. Then this guy came into my life! Thanks to Sharry Mouss @cool_sharry for naming him.
He is certainly a silver fox!

It is strawberry pie season! My bestie Jonea came out to help mom and I bake 10 of these. She walked away with one for her family and we got fresh veggies out of the deal.
Fair Trade.

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite times of the year. I get to see some of my favorite people, blowing things up, cookouts, Red Oak, swimming, firework shows, baseball, and the list goes on and on.

Sour Summer Time

I suck at life. I will try my hardest to update more. Summer time is a hurry up and wait time for me. Work is extremely slow because hardly any students take classes. I have to find ways to stay busy at work but there are only so many times I can rearrage the furniture.
When I was uploading pictures I decided I take way too many pictures of my nephews and cousins. Sorry.
Business Card Hell.
KK and GJ with some light reading.
What is cooler than cool?
GJ on National Donut Day!
Friday Nights.
First set of twins born on the farm.

TCup and GJ
This is Jonea. We have been friends for 20+ years. We are total opposites but that is what makes our friendship perfect. We laugh all the time and get into some of the craziest situtations. I love her to the moon and can't wait to be in Jamacia with her!
My little ladies

Q turned 5! Mom and I made her cake.
I can't imagine anything in the world better than being an aunt.
Check out GJ's curl standing straight up!
LC and GJ!

When in doubt, buy them both.

 Love this outfit!
I am at the point in the warm season when I refuse to blowdry my hair or wash it daily. Big curly and wavy hair (and sometimes very dirty) will be a constant in my upcoming blogs. Sorry, but I'm not sorry.
Top: Old Navy
Jeans: Old Navy
Shoes: Some brand and I love them
One of the things I love the most about late spring and early summer are the nights. I drove back from McAlester last week with the windows down the whole time and I took the backroads. Bruce Springsteen was played as loud as possible and it made me happy I grew up and came to love the rural areas. The lightening bugs are brighters, the honeysuckel smells sweeter and the headlights are fewer.

I was the pool girl for a day or so. I might have had the net in my hand a total of 20 minutes. The rest of the time I was laying out with friends.

A handle of sangria and a Lilly dress. The makings of the perfect 10 Year Reunion.

Oh, Jonea.
ErrrMerrGerrrd! Bailey!
I love this guy so much! We were partners in crime and seemed to get out of trouble all the time. He is doing great things as a LPN. I couldn't be happier to have such a wonderful friend in my life. Bailey is the original Bay.
Jessica went to school with us from kindergaten through our senior year. She is such a sweet and caring person! We were all so happy she came to dinner with us.

I have been through so much with these two! Jonea since childhood and Krystal since high school and throughout college. Both are kicking ass and taking names.

Sour Summer Time

My pool partner on Sunday.
Q told me I needed to find her some of sunglasses like these. I am not on the hunt.

And that brings us to today.
I know I need to update my blog more often.
Skirt: Old Navy
Top: Pazza Bella
Shoes: Gianni Bini
