Inflatables and Fried Potatoes

Well, I am now going to update you on the fabulous weekend I had at my family reunion at the lake house.
Our View.

Friday afternoon was dragging by until I got a phone call from my boss saying, "Let's leave." I was out the door and headed to Monroe to pick up the Manfriend. After saying hello and chatting we made our way to the lake house at Burnt Cabin. When we arrived we were bombarded with family and hugs. That is never a bad thing. My nephew, GuyJack, was already covered in bruises from playing so hard. (Check out his legs.)
Friday evening was Sam & Ella's and beer. Never a dull moment.

Saturday started early. GJ got into bed with the manfriend and me around 6:30am so mom could take Oscar to run the the Gore Dam Run. He finished first in his age group. While the runners were running and the breakfast club was enjoying breakfast and Jincy's (General Store from Where the Red Fern Grows) manfriend and I took care and fed a bunch of children. I guess this was the perfect form of birth control. While all of this was going on, the inflatables were delivered. Hello good times. Chance (manfriend) was a trooper and helped find outlets and breaker boxes so the children could start their fun.
Great-Aunt Juanita

Saturday was an easy day of relaxing and talking. The weather was perfect. Mid-afternoon we started making a traditional "West" family dinner. Fry bread, beans, fried potatoes, and everything in between. My great-aunt Juanita is the fry bread maker of the family.
After dinner and more jumping in the inflatables we had a birthday party for my Ginny and her twin sister Sticky. After that, Chance and I went into Gore to buy some beer and drinks for the rest of the family. When we returned we began watching the OU-K State game.

We later came back to the main house and talked until we couldn't keep our eyes open and went off to rest for the night. Sunday morning meant big breakfast and chocolate gravy. My Nan was the maker of all makers of chocolate gravy. It is a family tradition.

I know I can complain about my family and how they drive me nuts, but I do love each of them very very much. I wouldn't be who I am without them.

After saying our goodbyes, Chance and I headed back to Monroe to pick up a washer and dryer his family is letting me have ( I think they like me a little) and delivered it to my apartment in Wilburton. I really do have an amazing manfriend. He makes my heart go pitter patter and I would be in a dark place without him.

If he had to climb in once he did 50 times

That brings me to today, Tuesday, September 25

Time Limits

Hello Blog World.

I can't even begin to express my weekend.

Somehow, I have managed to run out of time to post an extensive post about my weekend. Therefore, tomorrow I will post that cluster.

Thanks and hope you are all having a great Monday:)

400 miles and Two Nephews

Yesterday was "Nephew Day" and I was beyond excited to finally go get those two boys. Not sure if I ever told you why I was getting them for the weekend. Besides the family reunion this weekend, my brother and sister-in-law are going to New Jersey to see Bruce Springsteen. Yes. The Boss is having a show and they are going.
My brother and I had a plan to meet up after Oscar's track meet. Yeah. That track meet caused a lot of problems.
As I am driving on the Indian Nation Turnpike my brother calls me saying Oscar isn't going to run as early as we thought and it will be closer to 7 before they could leave to come meet me. No problem. I assure them I have no problem meeting them closer to OKC. (I am such a kind person).
I go to Shawnee, about 30 miles for OKC, stop to do some shopping (found the most fabulous dress to wear to a wedding next weekend!), and grab a coffee.
As I am waiting on my order at Starbucks, my brother calls and says change of plans...
I automatically know I am going to OKC. I jump in my car and drive 30 miles to meet my sister-in-law with my nephews. She can't even begin to express how thankful she is for me coming all the way and promises to make it up to me one day. Honestly, I would drive to the end of the Earth to pick up my nephews.
After the boys have food and are buckled up, we start the 3 hour drive to SE Oklahoma and to Granny Buck's house.

Today, my whole family is meeting at the lake house for a family reunion. EXCITED FACE.
Expect lots of pictures.

Nephew Day!

I get my nephews today! That is the first thing that came out of my mouth. There are days when I wonder if I could ever love two boys more than my nephews. I am not going to test that idea any time soon; however, having two onery boys to talk to and play with makes my life just a little bit brighter.

Everything about this outfit was last minute. Nothing was planned this morning. Fail on my part.

School Pictures and Nephews

This is a list of events I am excited about:
  1. I get to pick up my nephews tomorrow. Oscar and GuyJack make my heart happy.
  2. Manfriend is coming home tomorrow as well.
  3. This weekend is my family reunion at the lakehouse. Manfriend is joining me. Say a prayer.
  4. Wahoo! at the lakehouse
  5. THIS WEATHER!
  6. My Job.
We can end the list there because I am cold and want to get back to planning a Pinterest Wedding:) for whoever might look at my boards. Not getting married anytime soon.

Wednesday, Sept. 19-------------------->
I got this top at the same place I bought my dress from yesterday. The pants are Jessica Simpson and that gal knows how to make a skinny black pant.
The shoes=FAB.

I also took a school picture today for the first time since I was a student here. That was stressful.

Oklahoma Girls Do It Better

Happy Tuesday Dahlings! Today is a good day. Maybe it was the mango I ate or the wonderful end of the summer weather, but I am in a glorious mood:)

Last night I went to my cousin Asher's first football game. I am still amazed he is old enough to play little league football. I had the movie "Little Giants" playing over and over in my head.

The dress came from a store in Poteau called "Jazz Z Jewelz. Way fun!

The necklace I wore yesterday (see below) I purchased at Rhinestone Cowgirl in Stillwater over the weekend. I am an Oklahoma girl through and through. I love my state enough to wear it around my neck.

Mosters and Cupcakes

This is me admitting failure. This won't happen often (ask the manfriend about that), but I did fail on updating the ole blog last week. I was a small cluster of a week. Today, we can catch up on the events.

I posted Wednesday morning and so much has happened since then. I paid my final respects to a great man and am still at a loss for words on how much he will be missed.
I finally beat my cousin Lane (@LAdamsKC) in a nail biting game of Wahoo. Reed, my 6-year-old cousin, came is second.
Wednesday is reserved for volleyball. It can get out of hand.
Thursday was a complete fail day. I had a spectacular outfit.  Navy and white striped Ralph Lauren Dress with an orange belt and Lilly Pulitzer Resort Wedges. I was wearing this outfit when I dumped an entire ice chest full of ice, water and bottled water in the floor of my office. Sounds awesome, right? By 2pm I was wearing norts and Nikes and hiking down the dam at Robbers Cave. I decided at that moment I was taking Friday off.
On Friday I came to work. Dammit.
 Friday, Septemeber 14, 2012------------------------------->
I told my boss and filled out the paperwork but still felt like I needed to be there and get some work wrapped up. I showed my face in her office and she told me to get out of here. She didn't even have to twist my arm and I was off to Stillwater and the Cowboy Nation.

I always love being in Stillwater during game weekends. Everyone is in America's Brightest Orange and prepping for game day. It also means getting to see the manfriend:)
Friday evening was a sushi date with two good friends and going to bed early because tailgating for an 11am kickoff starts very early in the morning.

Bloody Mary Bar, Screwdrivers and Mimosas

After the game and sobering up, I kissed the manfriend goodbye for a week and headed to the lakehouse. I was greeted with giggling girls and my cousin Dru blowing up bars of soap in the microwave. I love my family.
We were gathering at the lakehouse to celebrate Miss Teagan Tate's first birthday. In my family, birthdays are a big deal. The theme was "Pink Monster" and very fitting.

Homecoming = Beer and Band Aids

Homecoming: the chance to act like you are too good to be here and blame it on the drunken stupor you have been in since Friday at noon. I love homecoming. I was talking to my Big (@cool_sharry) and asked if she was buying an alumnae shirt our sorority is selling? He exact words, "No... I figured I'll be drunk at whatever we'd wear them at." Excellent idea.
Homecoming at NSU is filled with laughs, drunkenness, music, food, football is in there somewhere, and sleeping off a three day hangover on Sunday. It. Is. AWESOME.
This year, many of us are meeting up early Friday to attend the event "Champagne Bingo." The last time we attended didn't win anything except for a noon hangover and we all misplaced our dignity. It was a very good time.
After we sleep off that, we will attend the North End Party. I think we might have to outlaw heels to this event. Band aids and Beers never go well together.

Counting down the days until this fabulous weekend with some of my best and dearest friends.

Birthdays and Goodbyes

Today, September 11, 2012, can be a sad day. However, I try to look on the bright side of this day and want to wish my dear friend and saver of the planet, Savannah, Happy Birthday. She is a brilliant, creative and caring person. The world is just a little bit better having someone like her. She is living in California right now while her husband (another planet saver) works on his Ph.D. Sending all my love to her on her 26th birthday:)

This is where I parked this morning. All I could see while sitting in my car were tires.

First song on Pandora this morning was "Dirty Diana." Today is going to be a good day. It made me think of @cool_sharry and I at Ned's doing "the Lakyn."
In other news, I am addicted to the game SongPop on my phone. This is serious. Name That Tune was one of my favorite games growing up and my great-grandmother, Nan, loved it just as much. We are more a like than people think.

I do have some sad news as well. A wonderful man I have known my whole life passed away on Sunday. I didn't have the emotional strength to write about it yesterday.
Ed Whitworth was a caring man with a love for learning and helped create many generations of life long learners. I am blessed to have had the chance to know and learn from him. He was the "spit and bailing wire" that held my little country church together and Sunday mornings will never be the same without him. He was an avid reader and was always up on his current events. He was a true inspiration and will be greatly missed. I only hope I can be an "Ed" in a students life. I will say my last goodbye to Ed tomorrow but I know he and the lessons he taught will be with me forever.

I have given up on summer. Today, I broke out the boots. Goodbye summer and hello to fall. I have always loved this season. Changing colors, cooler temperatures, football season, MLB playoffs in October, Halloween, and weenie roast at the farm. It is just a wonderful time for me and my family. So as I say goodbye to seersucker, linen pants, white Sperrys, I say hello to cords, tights, boots, blazers, hats, sweaters and the holiday season.

There is no crying in Wahoo

Oh, what a weekend.

I am becoming more and more spoiled with my Fridays being easy as brown and serve rolls (I would say pie, but that stuff is difficult and I never properly learned how to make those perfect scalloped edges). Because I work at what I like to call "a suitcase campus," Friday afternoons here are slllllllooooooowwwwww. I love it. This past Friday I felt pretty icky. I got my work finished and took a late lunch to visit my cousins at the Latimer County Free Fair. That means 4-H and show season is just around the corner. After watching the livestock judging competition (and owning it), being hounded by the Red Oak 4-H club to buy something from the consession stand and seeing all the blue ribbons won by my cousins, I made my way back to the office to wrap up all the last of my work of the week and head over to my apartment to finish the last bit of painting. I am going to love my apartment once it is finished.

Me and L tailgating in Stillwater last year
Friday evening I went back to the Goddard (the county fair grounds) to watch my cousins in the Pet Costume Competition. Now, I know what you are thinking, "On a Friday night?" Let me let you in on a little secret: I love my little cousins. I would watch hours of T-ball games, drive hours for a 5 minute dance performance, and decorate for birthdays until my hands were bleeding.
OK, back to Friday evening. My cousin Asher (9) was showing his pet St. Bernard, Barney, my Reed (6) was showing a little mut named Tebow, and Quincee (3) (the Ellie May Clampet of the family) was showing her goat, Nellie. Miss Q won the competition and the goat pulled her across the arena twice.

After leaving the fair grounds, my mother and I went to Red Oak and recieved the news that my cousin, Lane's minor league baseball team had be defeated therefore ending thier post season. Upon hearing this news I know that my favorite cousin will soon be in Oklahoma.
Mom and I had made plans to go to Tulsa on Saturday morning and look at furniture for my apartment. This was a very successfull trip. I had fallen in love with a retro sofa and chair at The Retro Den in Tulsa (like them on Facebook. Seriously. Do it.)

The sofa is a two piece sectional. I die.

Sunday was church and everyone looking at Lane. I dropped mom off at church and went to my Aunt Shelley's house to start marinating some chicken for L's welcome home lunch. As I am searching for something to marinate the meat in, I open the refridgerator and see a Corona. Yep, I poured to beer over the chicken and went on my happy way. Jesus was the life of the party too, right? (water into wine. Hell. Yes.)
L and Reed are just like each other.
After lunch, the family breaks our the Whaoo board. My family is very competitive. We play to win. Jesus loves winners after all. Lane is cocky, Reed is crying and I am trying like hell to knock someone off the board. In the end, Lane won both games, Reed cried and I came in second place.
Whaoo!

Monday, September 10
Mondays seem to fly bye. No complaints here.

Nellie the Goat and EZ Mart Feet

Let me begin this blog by telling you what I just came from a County Free Fair and had an allergy attack. That seems to be the trend of today. Yay me! I get to go back to the Fair tonight to watch my cousins show in the pet show. My money is on Nellie the Goat.

Now, last night in my soon to be apartment, we made major improvements and should be totally finished with painting this afternoon. Tomorrow, mom and I will travel to Tulsa to "hunt" down some vintage furniture (because I must be difficult) and shop some estate sales.

EZ Mart Feet
This apartment is about to send me over the edge with stress; however, yesterday made up for it with this picture--------------->

Those are my aunts feet and that is also how dirty the floor is.
I call this "EZ Mart Feet."

This is one of the walls in my apartment. I decided to paint it a dark gray and add bold pieces. I love the color. It should have it's secong and final coat today.

I know I have blogged about how much I love my mother, but last night took it to a new level. When we finally got home last night my father (who is a total jackass) was drunk and sitting in his recliner watching TV. We ask him a question and he goes off on a rant and slurs words that can't even be slurred. Mom and I look at each other and when he finally leaves the room this is what my mother says, "I am going to start calling him Honey Boo Boo because I can't understand a word he just said." I die.
She then proceeds to say, "That man is a shit show."
I die. Again.

My mother does not cuss and to hear that comment coming out of her mouth made it 300x better.

Friday, August 7

I said fuck the rules today and I wore jeans and whatever the hell I wanted to with them.

I feell like hell and I didn't fully dry my hair this morning so a wet bun is what you get. Plus, I think I have been stung by 5 fire ants today. Today is just peachy.

Cruel Jokes, Sleep Deprived, and No Lipstick

When my alarm went off this morning I thought it was a cruel and sick joke. The night passed by much too fast. Plus, I woke up to an itchy throat, watery eyes, head ache and my nose feels like the size of Montana. Not happy.
It is probably because I am sleep deprived and not taking enough care of myself. Meh. That isn't fun though. I am making myself got to bed at a decent hour tonight.

Painting continued yesterday and we are hoping to be finished today. Fingers Crossed!
Last night as I was cleaning brushes and pouring paint back into buckets, I got white paint on my black pants from yesterday. Total heartache. I knew it was time to leave at that point.

On a happy note, I will most likely be traveling to Italy and Greece in the spring. It is one of the perks of the job.

Thursday, August 6----------------------------------------------->

I know I have a fever and no lipstick. I am falling apart.

Black Pants, Manfriend, Paint, and Vitamins.

You know what I love? Short work weeks. They are simple a gift from the Man up stairs. Thanks, Home Slice.

Wednesday, August 5

------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Today is a black pants kind of day. Basically, these were the first things I saw when I was already 15 minutes late. I threw on the white under shirt and a hot pink v-neck tee and the first thing that went through my mind was, "I look like a waitress." Over the head that went and I grabbed this little gem, threw on the wedges and watch, and I was out the door. This will hopefully change when I move.

Actually, let's be honest. It won't.

Last night I began painting my apartment. I am not a painter. I might have had more paint on my clothes and in my hair than on the walls. If it weren't for my mother (I am beginning the paperwork for sainthood) and a young fella by the name of Larry (Larry is a freshman at the college I work at as well as from my hometown) I would have given up. Thanks:)

Also, I should give a nod to my manfriend, Chance. Yes, she has a boyfriend. Yes, she loves him dearly. And yes, he helped her pick out paint colors without rolling his eyes or getting snippy. He is a good manfriend.

One last thing, don't leave your
gummie vitamins in the car on a hot day.
They will become goo and slime:(

Labor Day Weekend and My Gay Ex-Boyfriend

Well dahlings, a new week is upon us and I am still physical and mentally recovering from my loooooong weekend.

I had every good intention of posting my blog on Thursday, but in true cluster fuck fashion, that didn’t happen. Meetings, students, registrations, obligations, e-mails, and phone calls consumed my short day in the office. So today, much like the rest of the world on the Tuesday after Labor Day, I am playing catch up at work and on my blog. Here is just a snippet of the weekend.
Thursday, August 30

Ryan
I had to sport my NSU green as I was going to be traveling to Tahlequah for the first home football game. My former boss and I met up to enjoy tailgating and catching up on our lives. She is possibly one of the greatest women I have ever met and she was willing to claim me as her daughter to sneak me into the alumni room. (I was then told to get out my check book and join the alumni association by the Alumni Director but that was all in good fun.It was worth it for the air conditioning.) During half-time, I met up with my dear friend and ex-boyfriend, Ryan. Now, some might think our relationship is odd to be so close for having been in a "serious" relationship for close to two years; however, there were certain things I could not offer him... like a penis. Love him dearly and I think of him as one of my true and dear friends.

 Friday, August 31
No pictures were taken because of extreme cases of confusing the Apple Genius and travel (safty first). I can tell you my outfit consisted of an over-sized T-shirt, norts and flops with a narly messy dirty bun. It is probably a good thing pictures were not taken. I got my haircut and then met up with manfriend and enjoyed dinner with some fabulous people.

Saturday, September 1
MUTHA EFFIN' GAMEDAY!!!

Tyler, Carly, Chance(manfriend), Justin
This really happened.

Holy Mother of Stillwater. Catching up with old friends, drinking, eating, sweating, and cheering on the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
In the land "where the wind comes sweeping down the plains," there was little to no wind during the day. That means it was hot.

This was my koozie for the day----------->
Notice the boby pins on the bottom. I am always prepared.

Below is our view of the game.
Sunday, August 2

Waking up from a hard day of tailgating is rough. Lunch with friends and then a trip to Oklahoma City to do a little shopping and seeing my brother and his family was my Sunday afternoon. The manfriend is always up for an adventure.

Monday, August 3

Total cluster. Between my car and buying paint, I was an emotional mess. Plus, leaving the manfriend is always torture. Made it home just to crawl into bed. Slept like a baby and I mean, waking up every two hours. Horrible.

Tuesday, August 4-------------------------------------------------->
Busy. Wearing Lilly.
Happy Note! My Lilly Pulitzer shipment should be waiting for me at home and volleyball is about to start back up. That means a lot of trash talk and sand in unwanted places.

Moving update. Paint colors were picked out by the manfriend and myself. Painting should start tomorrow and moving on Friday evening or Saturday morning. The sooner, the better.
