Small Town Life

Quincee and I driving in Red Oak. I think every single one of my family members has sat in someone's lap while they were driving. I come from a long line of law breakers. But it is Red Oak.
My dear sweet friend and sorority sister, Bree, is getting married on April 12. I am a bride's maid and helped throw her bachelorette party in Fayetteville.
This is April (middle) and Sharry (right). These two are hilarious and I wouldn't trade them for the world!
We woke up after a night of unruly behavior to find it sleeting, snowing and raining outside. We threw everything in my car and got on the road. Sharry looks epic in this picture. The moment she was finished eating the cookie she passed ou

Practicing dogpiles! Future champions!

"If it isn't monogrammed, is it really yours?"
Who wouldn't want a pair of floral print oxfords?

Two of the most perfect things in the world: chick shaped Sweet Tarts and Egg shapped Resse's!
Love these little ladies!

Riding down Main Street of Red Oak on the tailgate of a truck. I love the small town life.

THE SHIVER SHACK IS BACK!!!
New hair color... kinda.
WINE NIGHT! My best girlfriend from high school came over and enjoyed a few bottles of wine and a few movies.
Q just looks guilty in this picture. She said, "I want to do your hair." I checked her hands for scissors.

Small Town Saturday Night
I can't begin to tell you how many weekends of my childhood consisted of a bonfire at my parent's house. It was the best excuse for friends to get together, cook, and talk about life. My brother got everyone together for my dad's belated birthday. The tradition might be making a come back.

And then my Spring Break was over.

Glitter and Goldie Hawn's Lips

I am already on Spring Break. Well, mentally. It is only Thursday. But come Friday at noon(ish) I will be out of here. I will not apologize. Just another perk of working in higher education.

As of yesterday, I am down a whopping 85 pounds!
 Holy Ba-Jeezus!
It has been a journey but I am so glad I had the support of my family to make the decision to get healthy. I will give a full blown update around the beginning of April.

This weekend I will be meeting up with sorority sisters and friends for what is sure to be an event to remember. My dear friend Bree is getting married April 12th and we are celebrating her bachlorette party! Fayetteville will be covered in glitter!
So, here is what I have been up to the past couple of days.
XX,
C
These are my minions! Our hometown of Red Oak was play in the girl's and boy's state basketball tournament. There is no place like RO. This small town supports the youth more than most would ever know.
The last time I was in Carl Albert High School's gym was my sophomore year of college. I had an allergic reaction to something (we never figured out what it was) and I looked like Goldie Hawn in the First Wives Club. It was horrible.

GJ and Q had one heck of a time. They love each other and play so well together!

GJ wanted a "Big Smile" picture. After he looked at it he said, "Send it to Buck!"

My Aunt KK hates when we make faces in pictures. This makes us do it even more:)
I forgot I was wearing red lipstick this day. I walked past a mirror and went WHOA! The earrings and necklace were a gift from manfriend.

Shoes: I have no idea

I am over winter. If anyone would have said, "Why are you wearing white pants? The say it is too early for those." I would have kindly responded with, "I am an effing adult. I can wear whatever I want. And who is this "they" you speak of? What do they know?"
If you can think for yourself and know what you like, you can wear whatever the hell you want. Rant. Over.
Remember that bachlorette party this weekend?

The not so dull life

I do not have a dull life... at all. People often ask me if I get tired of constantly being on the go, I tell them, "No. I would get bored."
I am lucky enough to have Fridays off during the summer. I truly believe long weekends are one of the greatest gifts from God. Especially long weekends with cool summer nights.
This is just a little bit of what I did this weekend.

This is Teagan. You might remember her from earlier posts. She is growing like a weed! She is eating a cucumber that has been soaked in vinegar. Her face is classic:)

This is Lakyn. She is Teagan's older sister. My aunt Shelley (their grandmother that they call Silly) and I are sitting in the back seat of a Enclave while this sleeping beauty took a nap.
If you know anything about me and my family you would know that my cousin Lane is playing minor league baseball and was just promoted to AA in Springdale, AR. This is only 2 hours from our hometown of Red Oak. Needless to say, we have already been to 3 games!

There really isn't an excuse for what happens on Main Street of Red Oak, OK. I'm not sure if this is Road Side Orthodontics or Tackle Box Orthodontics...

This is my sister-in-law, Jenne. She told my nephew, Oscar, to write his name on his beach towel before he went to a water park. This is where he chose his name placement. Face Palm.
I have a family reunion every Fourth of July. This year water balloons were a big hit. I found this under my mother's vanity Saturday morning. It is like a ticking time bomb.
This is Quincee or better known in the family as EllieMae Clampet. She had her first dance recital this weekend. We all agreed, gymnastics>dance.

I am planning on building a small house in Red Oak in the future and this is my dream of what it would look like!

It is always freezing in my office! I have to basically put on my top layer when I get here because there is such a difference in temperature.
The orange pants are getting me pumped up for football season!

Blow. Shit. Up. and men's cut polos

August 17, 2012

Let me catch you up on a few little details regarding my life and where I grew up.

I am the younger of my parent's two children and they had me in case my older brother, Brian, needed a kidney. True story. My brother is brilliant, my dad is an asshole and my mother worries enough for the whole family. I went to school in a town called Talihina, OK. It is famous for.... I will get back to you on that, but the band, Kings of Leon, frequent this little gem and have a song and documentary titled "Talihina Sky." Yes, that is where I live.

Now, I may have gone to school and lived in Talihina, but my home is Red Oak. Red Oak is 16 miles north of Talihina. I can't begin to express my love for this town. The cell service is terrible. There isn't a store with the exception of the EZ-Mart and the Rock Store (has the coldest pop in town) and the town police officer is referred to as "Bob Law." You can park in the middle of the road and drive 4-wheelers, Rangers, and golf carts down Main Street without fear of a ticket. The graduating class is never more than 20 students and everyone goes to the home basketball games.
To me, it is a mix of Mayberry and Stars Hallow.
I love it.

You may be asking, "Why in the hell is she telling me this?" I am telling you this because of what I did last night in Red Oak.

After I got off of work I went to work out and tan. I picked up the AWESOME metal letters (yesterday's blog) and headed to RO to deliver one of the Ks to my cousin Dru. She lives on our family farm in the community of Boggy and was in town with her children for a "play date." I pick up my Aunt Jodie (future blog subject) and we go to see Dru. Upon our arrival, we see a pack of children running around the yard. Some without shoes, others without shirts and my dear, sweet little girly girl cousin, Quincee, wearing her brother's pajamas because they have sharks (it is shark week you know).

My aunt and I get out of my car and Dru says, "Watch this!" and we turn around to see a pop bottle fly through the air and explode. At this point I think, "They are high on bath salts." Dru proceeds to tell me her friend and her friend's ex-husband (small town, right) are putting the cleaning solution "The Works" and tin foil in a plastic bottle and shaking it until a reaction starts to happen and then BOOM! Shit goes flying everywhere and the kids running around cheering. What else are we supposed to do on a Thursday night? Blow. Shit. Up.

Bob Law attempts to come check on what all the ruckus is, but realizes Jodie is standing in the road with all the commotion (she is the self-appointed mayor of Red Oak) and proceeds to turn around. A few more bottles are blown up and then a paintball gun is brought into the picture and I decide it is time to leave.

The joys of living in a small town.

Note on my outfit for the day. I work at a small two-year community college and on Friday of each week the employees can either wear regular office attire or jeans and a polo (It is a fucking men's cut polo. Not happy.). Today, I decided to go this route with wearing jeans and Sperrys. I had to do a lot of running around and organizing.

I will be blogging throughout the weekend at our families lake house.
I will try to introduce my family through the rediculous events and comments.
